Associate of Science
The Associate of Science (AS) Degree is designed primarily for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university with a major in natural or physical sciences, mathematics,
or in preparation for professional fields such as medicine, dentistry, dietetics, environmental science, natural resources, or engineering.
         
To receive an associate degree, you must complete a total of 62 credit hours,
with at lest 30 of the last 45 credits from Mott, and with a cumulative grade point
average of at least 2.0. Credit hours (cr) and contact hours (ct) are not necessarily the same.

Note: A student may qualify to skip ENGL 101 and go directly to ENGL 102 by scoring 24 on the English part of the ACT. or 590 on verbal part of the SAT. or 115 on the placement test and a reading level of grade 13 or higher and applying for and passing a special writing exam.
         
English composition courses cannot be used to fulfill any of the requirements listed in Categories II, III, or IV.
         
Category II. At least one course in each of the following categories:
A. Humanities courses: Select from courses identified (HUM) in this booklet.
B. Social Sciences: Select from courses identified (SOC) in this booklet.
C. Natural/Technical Laboratory Science Courses: Select from courses identified (NTL) in this booklet.
Category III. Complete all of the following:
A. One course with Multi-cultural Ethnic Studies designation (MES)
B. One course with the Speaking Across the Curriculum designation (SAC)
C. One course with the Scientific Method Course designation (SMC)
D. Two courses with the Writing Across the Curriculum designation (WAC)
E. One course with the Computer Across the Curriculum (Computer Literacy) designation (CAC)
Please note: Category II courses may also be used to fulfill one or more of the Category III requirements.
Category IV. Mathematics. Complete one of the following:
A. Demonstrate MATH 160 eligibility by Placement Test
B. Score 22 or better on the Math portion of ACT Test or 560 on the Math portion of SAT Test
C. Complete MATH 101 or higher level math course
D. Demonstrate MATH 101 eligibility by placement test or by completing MATH 021 or BUSN 106 and one course with the Math Across the Curriculum (MAC) designation
